I guess Winter is officially over and we are jumping quickly into Spring…it was 86°F (30°C) today! RD is working his first overnight shift tonight. I must say, it was weird having him home all day…really threw the whole flow of my day off…but it is equally weird not having him at home this evening.

My hormones got confiscated by customs…I think I’m going to die…or maybe RD is going to die…I’m not sure which will happen first. I think he has about 7 days to live…maybe a few more depending on how quickly my body realizes it is operating without estrogen. And he thought Vietnam was tough the first time...

Well, I never thought I’d be relieved to get back to the drivers and the traffic here in Doha (despite the fact that they view the lines on the road as mere suggestions) but it’s nothing compared to the chaos of Vietnam. Unfortunately it has gotten much hotter…it is now 95° during the day and 75° at night. The cold water coming out of the tap is no longer cold (our water tanks sit outside in full sun) and the pool is starting to get warmer (I’ve been told that in the summer it is as warm as a hot tub…doesn’t sound too refreshing when it is 120°). I need to work with maintenance to get a “chiller” put on our cold water line or soon we will need to fill the tub and let it cool before we can take a bath. I got my hormones today…finally…the C.O.O.’s wife is visiting from Georgia and brought them in her luggage. Apparently I’m going to have to turn people traveling from the states into “drug smugglers” for me.

It was 101° today and it’s not even April yet!

Last night RD brought home an article from the paper regarding “Community” classes at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), the “art” university out at “Education City”. There are quite a few U.S. schools out there…Cornell, Carnegie Mellon, Texas A&M, Georgetown… I drove out to the school this morning and signed up for a silver jewelry making class that starts next week! Yeah! It’s only 1 day a week (3 hours) for 4 weeks but it’s a start! I think it’s the first time I have walked into a building here, looked around, and seen other women dressed like me!
